Mary Shoup, PA
Mary Shoup is a dedicated healthcare professional who graduated from Berry College in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, accompanied by a Minor in Chemistry. Her passion for the medical field led her to pursue further education at Augusta University, where she earned a Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies in 2021, formerly known as the Medical College of Georgia.
Upon completing her studies, Mary began her career as a Physician Assistant at Archbold Memorial Hospital, where she worked alongside the hospitalist team for three years, from 2021 to 2024. During her tenure, she actively contributed to patient care, utilizing her knowledge and skills to improve health outcomes. Mary is a proud member of both the American Academy of Physician Associates and the Georgia Association of Physician Assistants, where she engages with fellow professionals and stays updated on industry advancements.
Mary's passion for her profession is deeply personal. She shared, "My dad was a PA for almost 35 years, and I grew up watching him make a difference in the lives of his patients. I was so captivated by his ability to positively impact their lives that I wanted to do the same. I have always cared deeply for people and truly want to make a difference." This heartfelt connection to her father’s legacy inspires her daily work and the commitment she brings to her patients.
Outside of her professional life, Mary is an enthusiastic cook who enjoys experimenting with new recipes and sharing meals with family and friends. She is also an avid CrossFit participant, embracing the challenge of fitness training, and enjoys spending time immersed in books across various genres, which helps her relax and recharge.
When asked what sets her practice apart, Mary emphasized the exceptional camaraderie within her team. She believes the relationships built among the entire group—including physicians, advanced practice providers (APPs), and support staff—create an environment that feels welcoming and familial. This sense of community fosters collaboration and mutual support, which is essential for effective patient care.
Mary hopes that patients perceive the practice as a welcoming and encouraging space, where they feel invited to engage in their own health journey. She strives to promote a culture of collaboration that not only enhances patient experiences but also leads to successful health outcomes.
